Our Sunday Club leaders are two of our church elders, who are also involved with Errol Children's Club (after school club), and have worked with children for many years. All of our volunteers have undergone approved Safeguarding training through the Church of Scotland and are members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme of Disclosure Scotland.
We meet before the service in the Sidlaw Room, then sit together in church. At the family talk we try to guess what's in the minister's pocket - he gives us clues and helps us to see how Jesus wants us to be. Then we sing while the minister plays his guitar - sometimes we teach the rest of the congregation a new song! After that we go to our meeting areas to learn about Jesus and Christian life through music, stories and crafts.
We take part in family services throughout the year, and at Christmas we have a party together with children from Messy Church. During school holidays and communion services there is no Sunday Club but there are activities in the Sidlaw Room which we can do with a church helper while the minister speaks to the rest of the congregation.
There is a small core of children who come along each week. We have toys for little children and babies, children up to P3 go to Explorers and those in P4 - P7 are members of JC7. Sometimes we have young adults who come and help out.
We also come to Messy Church with our families.
Along with the rest of our church, we are helping to sponsor a boy in El Salvador called Jairo (pronounced Hiro), so that he can go to school, learn to read and write and get a proper meal 3 times a week. We didn't realise his family wouldn't be able to feed him, his life is very different from ours.
If you want to know more about our Sunday Club, please come along on a Sunday at 11am and join in!
This is what we want adults to be like !
